As we ramp up our efforts of social distancing, you’re probably already feeling a bit stir-crazy. Thankfully, there are a handful of activities to do over the weekend to keep you and your family safe and happy. Rather than staring at your electronic screens all weekend, here are some ideas to consider:

Spring cleaning: Now is the best time to get ahead on cleaning! Clean homes are known to reduce stress and improve your happiness. This will greatly benefit anyone who is working from home as it can also boost productivity.

Exercise: Just because your local gym is temporarily closed doesn’t mean you have to skip a workout. There are a ton of free, on-demand workouts you can access! Check a few of them out here.

Write a letter: In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19, nursing homes have shut their doors to visitors. This leads to residents becoming increasingly isolated. Writing a simple letter (or two) can brighten up someone’s day who is experiencing this. Reach out to your local nursing home or check out lovefortheelderly.org who will send a letter on your behalf.

Read a book: Many people proclaim that reading more is their New Years Resolution, but this always seems to fall through as the year progresses. Social distancing is the best time to pick up that book that’s been collecting dust. Need a little motivation? Join an online book club!

Go outdoors: Social distancing does not mean you have to stay inside all day. It’s okay to walk your dog or ride your bicycle – as long as you avoid being in close contact with people. Looking for a new adventure? Check out your local trails here. However, make sure you disinfect any surfaces you touch and wash your hands when you return home.
